Converting a lossy source such as MP3, AAC, M4A, OGG, Opus, or most WMA files to WAV or FLAC does not restore audio detail already removed by compression.

MP3 has the broadest compatibility. M4A and AAC are efficient choices for modern and Apple devices, while OGG and Opus work especially well in web, game, messaging, and open-source workflows.
WAV and AIFF are widely accepted uncompressed editing formats. FLAC is useful for lossless storage, but some older editors and hardware work more reliably with WAV.
No converter can recreate detail that a lossy source has already discarded. Converting a high-quality lossless source to another lossless format can preserve its decoded audio, while converting to MP3, AAC, M4A, OGG, Opus, WMA, or AMR introduces lossy compression.
The conversion does not remove more detail when stored as WAV or FLAC, but it also cannot restore information already lost in the MP3. The new file will usually be larger without sounding better.
Files selected from your device are processed locally in the browser. Files imported through a link, Dropbox, or Google Drive first use that provider and the configured import service.
Single files are limited to 200 MB and a batch is limited to 10 files or 500 MB total. Processing still depends on available browser memory, so large batches are more reliable on desktop.
